Nerve blocks are an essential part of modern Veterinary Dental practice.

Whilst not the only part of a complete pain management plan, they certainly play a very large role. They are a fundamental part of reducing the amount of pain that is perceived by the patient, and act in a novel manner when compared to the other pain control agents. Nerve blocks act to change the way pain is perceived centrally.

Many nerve blocks are possible when working on the oral cavity, however we will concentrate on two major blocks whilst covering 2 other minor blocks. These blocks will be described and illustrated in their use in dogs.

If you have not used nerve blocks in your practice, or are looking at brushing up your skills, attendance at this lecture will provide you the required information to get started.
