Medications become an integral part of behavioural medicine. We use them to aid in management in cases where the pet is too aroused, anxious, or fearful. Also, we use medications to help in to facilitate learning and behaviour modification. This lecture will present guidelines for the use of medications. Also, an algorithm for the choice of appropriate medications is given. Finally, a review of currently available medication and their indication is covered. Following the lecture, the clinician should feel more comfortable in deciding when to use medication and which medication to choose.
