No procedure performed in veterinary practice is not without risk or complication. The definition of complication is an unanticipated problem that arises following, and is a result of, a procedure, treatment, or illness. A complication is so named because it complicates the situation.

Dental complications these days do include foreseeable albeit uncommon risks associated with dental or oral surgery procedures.

This lecture will discuss the common and not so common complications and mistakes reported in the literature that are seen in the management of oral diseases. The aim of the lecture is to provide the practitioner with the knowledge and foresight to predict and then to prevent most of these dental complications from occurring.
